About The Role & Team
IDC is building the next generation of AI-powered intelligence platforms that transform how technology decisions get made. Our platform re-imagines the way decision-makers discover and interact with trusted research and data, and is foundational to IDC's future.
We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to be the first QA hire for the platform engineering organization. You will define the QA strategy and testing approach for new AI-powered and integration systems being built across multiple pods. This is not a role where you execute someone else's test plan. You will define what quality means, design the frameworks, and set the standards.
The systems you will test span a wide range: AI agent pipelines where outputs are probabilistic, API gateways where contracts must be exact, data pipelines where correctness is paramount, and channel integrations where third-party platform behavior is unpredictable. Each domain requires a different testing approach, and you will define those approaches.
What You’ll Do
Define the QA strategy and testing approach for new AI-powered and integration systems being built across multiple pods Design test frameworks for systems where outputs are probabilistic (AI agent responses) and deterministic (API contracts, data pipelines), recognizing that each requires a different approach Build integration test suites that validate end-to-end flows across agent pipelines, channel adapters, and data services Establish quality gates, release criteria, and testing standards that scale across a growing engineering organization
Identify and prioritize testing for the highest-risk areas: the AI pipeline, external integrations, and new data flows Mentor the second QA engineer and help them ramp up across the codebase
What You Bring
Understanding of how to test AI/ML systems where outputs are non-deterministic Experience building automated test suites for APIs, integration flows, and data pipelines Proficiency in Python; experience with testing frameworks (pytest or similar) Ability to work across multiple teams and codebases simultaneously Strong opinions on what "quality" means for AI-powered products
Preferred Qualifications
Experience testing LLM-based or agent-based systems Background in testing API gateways, webhook integrations, or multi-channel systems Familiarity with contract testing or consumer-driven contract patterns Experience with performance testing and load testing Background in enterprise SaaS or B2B platforms
