Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and motivated Calibration and Test Engineer to join the Optical Switching Calibration and Test Engineering team supporting Lumentum’s next-generation Optical Switching products. This role involves developing automation software, designing calibration methodologies, and supporting test infrastructure across R&D and global manufacturing. You will collaborate closely with firmware, hardware, optical design, and manufacturing teams to ensure efficient and accurate test processes. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain automation software for calibration and test execution. Collaborate with R&D teams to define and implement calibration and test plans optimizing optical module performance and ensuring compliance to specifications. Interface with global manufacturing to deploy and support test processes and infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve test system and product performance issues through systematic problem-solving. Analyze test data and production metrics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement. Improve test throughput, reliability, and yield while minimizing cost and maintaining quality. Support remote manufacturing sites in testing improvements and deployment. Required Qualifications Post-Secondary degree in Science/Engineering Field Knowledge of optical communication principles and technology Minimum 5 years of industry experience in automation, calibration, or test development. Demonstrated Object-oriented programming experience / skills. Experience interfacing test and measurement instruments via software (e.g., RS232, I2C, SPI, GPIB, or Ethernet). Logical problem-solving skills and technical aptitude. Excellent teamwork and communication skills in cross-functional, fast-paced environments. Preferred / Nice-to-Have Experience with optical component calibration, LCoS, or MEMS systems. Familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, SQL) for yield and performance analysis. Understanding of manufacturing process control and statistical analysis (SPC, GR&R).
