Field Quality Engineer - Japan

As the Field Quality Engineer, you will act as the key interface between customers and AT&S plants, ensuring customer requirements are clearly understood, communicated, and implemented. You will lead quality-related discussions, resolve conflicting requirements, support account teams, and act as the first point of contact for customer concerns, including on-site visits and audits. Your Responsibilities

Act as the primary quality liaison between customers and AT&S plants, ensuring effective communication and representation in meetings and site visits. Understand and implement customer expectations, support account teams, and lead negotiations when required. Serve as the first point of contact for customer concerns, audits, and troubleshooting at manufacturing sites, ensuring timely resolution of quality issues. Lead regional quality meetings, involve relevant plant representatives, and regularly visit AT&S plants to maintain deep knowledge of manufacturing and quality capabilities. Prepare quality reports with KPIs, and provide early warnings to plants while driving improvement projects. Create and share exemplary quality practices to help AT&S plants consistently meet or exceed customer expectations.

Your Profile

Technical background (Bachelor’s degree or higher) with 5-10 years of experience in a related industry such as PCB, electronics, or semiconductors. Broad knowledge of quality standards, management systems, and practical use of quality tools (PDCA, 8D, Ishikawa, 5 Why, SPC, Cpk). Experience with SMT and assembly processes, and strong understanding of ISO9001, IATF16969, VDA6.3, APQP/PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plan concepts. Excellent language skills in Japanese and English. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and related software, with willingness to travel for business.
