Manager, Quality Assurance General Summary Lead and manage the Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs to ensure products meet established quality, safety, and performance standards. Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards and procedures to prevent pipe failures in the field. Analyze quality issues, communicate findings to production management, and recommend corrective actions to improve product quality.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain inspection, testing, and evaluation standards and methodologies. Plan and oversee inspection, testing, analysis, and integration activities to ensure assigned products meet quality requirements. Write, review, and approve Quality Assurance procedures and documentation. Conduct quality engineering reviews of design and manufacturing documentation for compliance with internal requirements, vendor quality manuals, and industry standards. Review Material Test Reports (MTRs) to verify metallurgy, steel grade, dimensions, and compliance with specifications. Analyze and review quality data from QC/QA activities to ensure alignment with company policies and procedures. Identify quality issues and develop effective corrective and preventive actions. Provide technical training and guidance to QA/QC staff as required. Direct and supervise inspection and testing personnel to ensure continuous quality control over materials, facilities, and finished products. Ensure quality standards are maintained, updated, and consistently applied across all operations. Communicate significant quality issues, trends, and corrective actions to management in a timely manner. Educate internal teams and external parties on quality standards, manufacturing processes, and testing capabilities. Maintain current knowledge of applicable government and industry codes and standards. Investigate, document, and resolve customer quality complaints.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred). 2–4 years of relevant quality, manufacturing, or engineering experience; equivalent education and experience considered. Strong computer skills, including manufacturing systems, project management software, spreadsheets, and word processing applications. CWI certification preferred.
