Role Description The Insurance Verification Specialist I is responsible for verifying patients’ insurance coverage, confirming eligibility, obtaining prior authorizations for orthotic and prosthetic medical services, and communicating such information with the care provider, insurance company, and patient. Detail-oriented and proactive, s/he is experienced in analyzing insurance policies and effective at communicating orally and in writing. Verify accurately patients’ eligibility, benefits, and coverage for orthotic and prosthetic devices using online portals and direct communication with insurance companies. Obtain prior authorizations and pre-certifications as required, ensuring all necessary documentation is submitted for approval in a timely manner. Coordinate with providers, clinics, and referral sources to ensure all necessary paperwork and medical documentation meet payer requirements. Enter verification and authorization details accurately into the billing system, maintaining up-to-date patient records. Communicate with insurance companies regarding coverage limitations, policy guidelines, and claim denials to prevent billing issues. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all insurance payer policies and guidelines to minimize claim rejections and delays.
Qualifications Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance policies as they relate to orthotics and prosthetics.
